Under the hood, the Carens Clavis CNG is powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine that works in tandem with a factory-fitted CNG kit. The vehicle delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.0 km/kg in CNG mode, making it one of the most efficient MPVs in its class. In petrol mode, it returns around 18.0 km/l, offering flexibility to switch between fuels based on availability and cost. The engine produces a maximum power of 113 bhp in petrol mode and 99 bhp in CNG mode, with peak torque rated at 144 Nm in petrol and 135 Nm in CNG. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic, though the automatic is only available with the petrol engine.

On the exterior, the 2026 Carens Clavis CNG features a bold new grille, sleek LED headlamps, and redesigned alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin boasts a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a fully digital instrument cluster, and ventilated front seats. Safety is a priority, with six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and a rear parking camera as standard. The car also gets a tire pressure monitoring system and a 360-degree camera on higher trims.

In terms of pricing, the Carens Clavis CNG is expected to be positioned between ₹11 lakh and ₹16 lakh (ex-showroom). Kia has confirmed that the model will be available in four trims: Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, and Luxury. The CNG variant will be offered only in the Prestige and Prestige Plus trims, while the Luxury trim is reserved for the petrol version. Bookings are expected to commence in October 2026, with deliveries starting in November 2026.

The CNG tank is placed under the floor of the third row, which means that the boot space is reduced from 216 litres to 150 litres in the CNG version. However, Kia has ensured that the third-row seats remain usable, and the vehicle retains its 6-seater configuration. Analysts say that the Carens Clavis CNG will directly compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG and the Toyota Innova Crysta CNG, though it offers more premium features and a modern design.

“The introduction of the Carens Clavis CNG is a strategic move to capture the growing demand for eco-friendly family vehicles in India. With its competitive mileage and feature list, it is likely to attract buyers who prioritize low running costs without sacrificing comfort.” – an industry analyst

Kia has also announced that the Carens Clavis CNG will come with a warranty of 3 years or 100,000 km, which can be extended up to 7 years. The company is also offering a complimentary roadside assistance package for the first three years. With the CNG infrastructure expanding across the country, this model is well-positioned to become a popular choice among Indian families.
